Repentance is the core footing in Christ’s teachings. As Jesus said in Luke 13:3, “unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Often repentance is looked at as a bad thing by people who love their sin. And while you might think, “no one loves their sin.” Believe they do, we see rebellion and fulfillment in sin on every corner, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, and three significant sins, yet deemed as reasonable, are pride, envy, and lying. Still, there is more. Society has become desensitized to sin and coerced into loving it and hanging Jesus back on the cross, which we see a great deal in Hollywood while they openly mock Him. The people who the younger generation idolizes.
Yet, we can’t give up on the truth and stop sharing it; the truth of repentance is vital to be born again and saved, and we know it’s the only way to Heaven (John 3:3). When we acknowledge our sins, wrongdoings, and mistakes and make a declaration to God with our hearts, admitting our need for a Savior. Jesus is full of mercy and forgiveness. Repentance makes way for forgiveness and to be changed and transformed.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.-1 John 1:9
It is a recognition that we must turn away from our sin and turn to God, and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Repentance is an essential step in the path to redemption, as it is only through repentance that we can receive forgiveness from God.
It is through repentance that we can enter into a relationship with our Father and allow Holy Spirit to transform us and create in us a pure heart and right Spirit. We go from slaves to the evil one to Sons and daughters of the highest, the true living God, Jesus Christ.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.-Acts 3:19
It’s something to take seriously. Jesus is coming soon.
