Psalms 27:8
My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Let’s go deeper:
Like David, we must understand that is the Lord’s desire for us to earnestly seek His face. This longing to seek Christ’s presence and blessings is not limited to David alone, but it extends to all people, in the present until the return of Christ. — We must, in all ways seek Jesus during the ups and downs, the chaos and uncertainty with upright hearts and childlike faces.
That said, seeking our heavenly Father with love and trust in our hearts believing in His promises, love, and Spiritual counsel. This way, we receive all we need to live a fulfilling life, even when outwardly we don’t have all the things we think we need. —Our Father takes care of His own.
Having said that, and after some research, I found the Hebrew word translated as “seek” to address a group of people, more than one which indicates that seeking God is a collective pursuit that all believers should routinely live by.
Furthermore, to “seek God’s face” means to have a deep longing for His presence, love, and a sincere desire to obey Him, not excluding His favor. Just like David and all our biblical ancestors before us, we must wholeheartedly respond to the Lord’s invitation. It is critical to recognize that God’s blessings are made possible through the Holy Spirit, all because of the sacrificial love of Jesus on the cross.
Please reference Deuteronomy 4:29, and 31, which assures us that those who seek the Lord with their whole heart and soul will find Him. — Our heavenly Father, being full of mercy, is forgiving of the repentant and does not abandon His people or forget the covenant He made with our ancestors. At the same time today, as followers of Christ, our covenant is made with Jesus Christ.
Look at Jeremiah 29:13, where the Lord promises that those who seek Him with their whole hearts will find Him. This promise serves as a reminder that our prayers for extraordinary awareness and clarity are possible because of Christ’s presence. Therefore, we must never approach God solely in the pursuit of worldly wealth and superficial blessings, or with a halfhearted attitude, or live complacency. Instead, I encourage all to come to God with fervency, wholeheartedness, and faith, seeking to live out His truth and desiring His genuine love and healing. —We should focus on bearing spiritual fruit rather than seeking attention for ourselves, all with the purpose of glorifying God, for everything we receive which is a gift and blessing from Him.
Beloved, life is not always easy, and those who choose to believe in the living God do themselves a great service. As we observe the world, we can see that many people suffer from grave mental, emotional issues, addictions, division, separation, and hardships within their families. Rather than mocking those who are unbelievers while they act out, we must recognize that there are spiritual forces at play (Ephesians 6:12) that influence their minds and cause them to suffer, even though their actions may seem absurd.
I personally know what it’s like to be in that place, and if it weren’t for the goodness of God, I would still be there. Many of us who have received God’s mercy and grace do not resemble our past lives of sin because our God is incredibly good and merciful. He washes us clean, the old person within us dies, and a complete transformation takes place, making everything new.
We should desire this transformation for all people, no matter how they act or what wrong they are doing. I want to emphasize that while many people say we should not judge, the Bible actually instructs us not to condemn, but to judge rightly. This means we are called to assess situations correctly, and as ambassadors of the Lord, we do call out wrongdoing in order to share the goodness of God and not make others feel like trash.
Sharing the gospel and leading people through the Spirit of God requires a great deal of love. It is not a selfish act but rather putting others before ourselves. To accomplish this, we need the Lord, we need God. For all believers out there, now is the time to love the Lord with all our hearts, just as David did. The Lord sees our hearts, and while some may use that as an excuse, the evidence of our faith is shown through our actions. There are ways to judge rightly, and in this day, we must walk honorably before the Lord.
It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of it, because I will tell you, the more pure we become in Christ, the more the world may hate us. That’s because the Spirit within us shines a light on the ill actions of others, and some may perceive it as thinking we are better than them. However, the truth is that we live with gratitude because we know what the Lord has done for us. Therefore, we strive to live honorably as a representation of God, because He deserves authenticity, our best, in Him which is a blessing from Jesus.
