Psalm 1:1 – Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
To mock people derisively may seem acceptable to Americans in retaliation for political harm, but the scriptures declare something entirely different.
Matthew 5:44 – But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Haven’t you heard of the ages old saying, “work smarter, not harder.”
God will not bless a people or nation who engage in sarcasm and tear one another down with their words. Those who act this way become an emotional graveyard!
Wisdom is the ability to recognize the truth as valid and live according to the word of God and pour it out wisely- common sense tells us that God detests what many are doing, especially those who use Christ’s name.
We should speak the truth and leave the rest. Mocking others is not godly and it holds us back as a nation.
In Ephesians 4:29, Paul says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
As a nation, community, and body of spiritual believers, we do not benefit from living in rebellion and mocking those who do or do not deserve it – they already make fools of themselves. God’s will is for us is to pray, keeping our hearts pure and free from bitterness.
In 12:25, Jesus knew their thoughts and said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”
Paul said it best, “I beg you that when I come, I may not need to be as bold as I expect toward those who presume that we live according to the flesh. For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not of the world, but have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:3)
This confirms that working intelligently and selflessly pleases God and gets the job done, with prayers answered. The results of Virtue take longer than the loud mouth “ventriloquist.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Yes, we fight fire with fire, but God’s people battle with a sanctified flame that has power over darkness.
