Biblical modesty is a principle that emphasizes humility, respect, and self-control in the way we dress and present ourselves. In 1 Timothy 2:9-10, the apostle Paul instructs women to dress modestly and with decency, not seeking to draw attention to themselves with elaborate hairstyles or expensive clothing, and provocatively but rather to focus on good works and a heart of worship.
In terms of church leadership, 1 Timothy 3:2-5 provides qualifications for overseers and deacons, including the requirement that they be “above reproach, faithful to their spouse, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.” These characteristics are not specific to gender but apply to both men and women who aspire to serve in leadership roles within the church.
Overall, the principle of modesty is grounded in a meek heart, not a weak heart; we desire to honor God from a pure heart made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit, which reflects the character of Christ shining through our words, actions, and appearance. It’s God, so no one can take credit.
Father says to reveal our bodies to the masses is not His will for young ladies, or old—youthful or mature. Our skin is a covering and not a catalyst to cause anyone to sin, which includes the lusts of men, women, and flesh’ passions. It’s never ok to flash our bodies inappropriately, which does not reflect self-respect but pride and vanity, and a lack of self-worth. These are the behavior we exhibited before we were transformed by the Holy Spirit, and often how we can tell the authentic work of Christ.
That said, Jezebel has infiltrated the churches and they lust over wealth and power, are over-sexualized, and long to be desired, even while they have spouses. They show no care or concern for the truth but instead, have a form of godliness in that some hold worldly position of power. They love to be desired and preyed on instead of praying and to repent. That said, unclean spirtits function in men and women and love to entice.
Too often, the focus is placed on women’s sin singly, and the man runs free without warnings only the women. Still genuine modesty is paramount in Father’s teachings and should be obeyed by all of creation. Remember, fellows you can not forget to protect you eyes from a seducer that validate their own behavior through rebellion and call it holy.
We hear male preachers haphazardly speak of woman’s attire while the man is handheld across the street with little direction and coddled rather than rebuked. Indeed, I have lived on both sides of the spectrum, and I assure you Jesus is the only light that casts away the darkness that leads to sin.
The flock need Shepards but without the Prophets they go astray. It’s easy to spot a lady who is secure in Christ, and it’s easier to spot a woman who requires the tender care of Christ. A wounded woman is unaware that her worth is found in a King when she runs with the jester. Indeed, not every woman desires to know Jesus and please God, but for the sake of obedience, the written word of God gives all instructions.
In 1 Corinthians 6:20 (AMP,) it says, You were actually bought with a price [you were purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body. This verse confirms that YHWY does not approve of this behavior nor condemn. He is patient and perseverant, and makes the way to be purified.
Now is the time for sound leadership and seek Christ with all your heart and repent to be changed. Be aware that refinement is a process and good things takes time, but with willingness and once Christ is finished with us we come out altogether different than before we went in.
Leviticus 19–20 details the Lord’s focus on holiness. The word for holy in Hebrew is “qadash,” which means to be sanctified, consecrated, dedicated, and separated from worldliness and immodesty. At the same time double-mindedness is the force behind immodest woman’s nakedness and a man’s seedy eyesight. One corrupts the other, while the guilt is the same.
We should all desire to please God and be holy like Christ is holy, holy virtue is a sign that Christ is with us. In closing here are a few scriptures to confirm a virtuous woman.
Proverbs 31:10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool and flax and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands, she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Scandalous dressing is a sign of a deeper-rooted issue so with compassion we step forward and touch hearts and not with hatred but love. Girls, do not take this wrongly. Do not think that Father doesn’t permit His daughters to dress sharply and esteemed. No, but with accountability, stewarding the flesh we live in and money, and dressing appropriately.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
Galatians 5:19-21
The works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
As a body of Spiritual believers, men and women should be out to please GOD before satisfying themselves and one another.
Blessings,
