We All Get Scared

Fear is a natural emotion; it’s what we do with that fear when it arises that matters.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, we can choose to offer that fear to God and replace it with His peace.

By trusting God for results that align with His will, we know things will turn out for the best for those who love and trust the Lord.

The best isn’t always the fanciest; it’s what makes the greatest impact for God’s kingdom, our families, and the community.

Scripture agrees:

Isaiah 41:10
“Do not fear, for I Am with you… I will strengthen you and help you.”

Joshua 1:9
“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

John14:27
“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

So why do those of us with strong faith sometimes experience sudden fear when plans change or things don’t go as we want? Well, this can happen for many reasons.

Some may judge and say, “They must not truly be in the faith,” or “They don’t read their Bible enough,” or “They’re not as close to God as they claim.”

For some, that might be true; however, not for all, because fear is a natural emotion that serves to warn us of danger.

Meanwhile, some people have faced deep trauma, pain, and disappointment that rewire the nervous system, triggering sudden fear.

Even with love for God and deep faith, fear can arise from the nervous system; so it’s important to respond with compassion and patience, both for others and yourself.

With discernment and love, we can gently remind one another—through God’s Word and the Holy Spirit—that when fear rises, as it did for me this morning, it’s simply part of being human on this journey of faith.

If anyone insists they never feel afraid, it’s not true; many simply hide their fear instead of acknowledging it.

After all, why would we need God if we were 100% fearless all the time?

Stepping out in faith and risking it all for Christ doesn’t mean fear won’t come. When it does, give it to the Lord and receive His peace beyond understanding.

Our Lord and Father is loving and delights in showing His protection to His children. —Trust Him to lead you through it and drive it out.

Ref: 1 John 4:18

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Notice the verse says perfect love drives out fear, meaning that true, perfect love—only God’s love—removes fear from our hearts.

It’s doesn’t mean it never happens.

But when we fully embrace Christ’s love, we no longer live in fear because His love gives us security, peace, and confidence. However, not living in constant fear or anxiety doesn’t mean we never face or feel it.

We are human, after all.

Thank GOD, we can bring our fears to Him in prayer, and in faith in the power of Jesus He removes them.

I think it’s important to mention that fear sonetimes comes from worry about punishment or harm, and for some of us, it stems from past abuse and trauma that others cannot grasp or understand.

But Jesus deeply understands our past pain and unseen wounds. Through His perfect love, we can call on Him to remove that fear. —Christ’s love assures us that we are accepted, forgiven, and protected.

Once again, thank You, Jesus for making a way when there is no way.

It’s a process.

In closing, as we grow in understanding and experiencing Christ’s perfect love, fear loses its power over us, enabling us to live with faith and courage.

Remember, Satan watches for our fear, ready to make mountains from molehills. Therefore, when fear arises, give it to the Lord and receive His peace. Trust Him to defeat the enemy—that’s faith in action.

As it says in James 4:7
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James 1:22
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

God bless us all.

Much love and truth,
