Beloved, the Bible says that each of our lives are rooted in reaping and sowing. God instructs that it is this defining principle that leads to a harvest of a joyful life in Jesus Christ.

Let’s take a look!

The Parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:1-9 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.² And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. ³ And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow.⁴ And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. ⁵ Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, ⁶ but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. ⁷ Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. ⁸ Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. ⁹ He who has ears,let him hear.”

Next, we find the explanation of this teaching from Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ “Hear then the parable of the sower: ¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. ²⁰ As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. ²² As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. ²³ As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Jesus, also explains the analogy of the weeds of all evil, that which chokes out His plans for our lives.

²⁴ He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,²⁵ but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.²⁶ So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. ²⁷ And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ ²⁸ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’²⁹ But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. ³⁰ Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

So, what does that mean to each of us, today?

In means, this year, we will reap what we have sown in the year previous. For some, it will be a fruitful harvest. For others, it will be a scarce return.

In fact, some will lose their whole farm!

However, no sense in crying over spilled milk. What’s done is done.

Today, is the day to start over and plant what is right. It’s all up to you, and your willingness to place all faith and trust in Jesus, and, “do the work.”

Today, is the day to sow healthy seeds for your future. To set a plan, mark the ground, and dig new holes. To plant things which are good and fruitful.

Be sure to check if the soil is healthy. If the ground is dry and broken—move away!

Because the seeds don’t make the harvest grow, the soil does, and that which you water it with.

Luke 8:15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

Be sure that what surrounds you is healthy and fertile. To aid in the fertilization of your future.

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. ~Mark 4:26

God also said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.~ John 15:5

So, now is the time to walk away from unhealthy habits, negative people, and old plans that are dead and dried up.

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”~1Corinthians 15:33

So, after hearing this, I have one question for you. Are you ready to grow?

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

It doesn’t get any clearer then that.
